Evaluation ofprimary blood monocyte and bone marrow cell culture for the isolation of Rickettsia rickettsii.

Rickettsia rickettsii was isolated from experimentally infected guinea pigs by culture of blood monocytes and bone marrow cells, and from experimentally infected rhesus monkeys by blood monocyte culture. Rickettsiae were identified in monocyte-macrophage monolayers stained by Giménez or flourescent antibody techniques. A total of 78 culture attempts were made from 20 guinea pigs and 16 monkeys....

Metabolism of Richettsia tsutsugamushi and Rickettsia rickettsi in irradiated host cells.

The metabolism of Rickettsia tsutsugamushi (Gilliam strain) multiplying in irradiated L cells was investigated by methods involving the use of (14)C-labeled substrates and cycloheximide, an inhibitor of eukaryotic metabolism. Cycloheximide-resistant amino acid and adenine incorporations were appreciably higher in infected than in uninfected cultures during the period from 3 to 5 or 6 days posti...

Equine marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells: isolation, differentiation and culture optimization

Most studies regarding the marrow-derived equine mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have mainly focusedon the cell transplantation without considering the capacity of differentiation and in vitro requirements of thecells. These concerns were investigated in the present study. Equine MSCs were isolated from the sternalmarrow aspirates and expanded through two successive subcultures. Passage-2 equine ...

BIO treatment enhances rat marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell in vitro proliferation and viability

Introduction: Previous investigations have indicated that the presence of BIO (6-Bromoindirubin-3-Oxime) in medium of some cell culture enhances the cell proliferation and viability. The aim of the present study was to investigate the BIO effects on in vitro expansion of rat marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) culture. Methods: In the present experimental study, bone marrow cells from ...
